Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan draw 1-1 in the first match of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan drew 1-1 in the first match of Group B of the tournament held at the Changwon Soccer Center on the 6th.

Myanmar’s Kaung Faing scored the opening goal in the 23rd minute of the first half, but Kyrgyzstan shared one point thanks to Christian Brauzman’s equalizer in the 7th minute of the second half.

This preliminary round is a competition to determine the team that will advance to next year’s AFC U-23 Asian Cup finals, the final qualifying round for the Asian region for the Paris Olympics, and is equivalent to the first round of Asian qualifying for the Paris Olympics.

A total of 16 teams, including the first place team in each of the 11 groups in this preliminary round, the top four teams among the second place teams in each group, and the host country Qatar, will advance to the U-23 Asian Cup finals to be held in April-May 2024.

Korea, led by coach Hwang Seon-hong, is in Group B with Qatar, Myanmar, and Kyrgyzstan.

Hwang Seon-hong will play the first match against Qatar at the Changwon Soccer Center starting at 8 p.m. on this day. Qatar has already confirmed its advancement to the finals as the host country, so the result of this match will not affect the group stage rankings.

Korea will clash with Kyrgyzstan on the 9th and Myanmar on the 12th.
